Yesterday I was talking to the narcotics-nurse before my surgery.
If I was not concerned about the potential dangers involved in climbing?
Well I’m aware of them not afraid. I trust my body and mind, I’m mostly afraid of external factors.
Especially the external human factor.
Climbing is for me being in control over mind and body being able to move through difficult terrain making risk assessments on the go have a great time and come home alive.
Yes I’m a ware of potential dangers in the mountains, but if you treat them with respect you might become every climbers dream: An old climber.
For me it was proven once again that being in the mountains I’m less exposed to unaccounted external threats than in everyday life. 05/08/15 I was knocked off my skateboard driving down hill on the way to a local swimming spot. I fractured my collarbone, whip-lashed my neck and brused my ribs, limbs and the collarbone touched my lung.
floating bones
Yesterday 12/08/15 there was finally time and place to get me bolted up in the Albert Schweizer hospital. The decided to give me a plate to speed up and control my recovery and hopefully I won’t have any long term function problems.
officially Screwed
For now, unfortunately life as I know it is on hold.
Preparing Climbuz 2.0 is not easy with only 1 hand.
Jon Earle from Beetproductions was making a movie about my Van Life last months.
He made a great effort to release it and cheer me up with this movie:
