After a week driving around on the boarder of Italy and Swiss the weather seemed to be better for a the next 2 days.. maybe thunderstorms in the evening. But the best weather prediction in weeks. So we packed the bags at the Como lake. Finished some Italian wine with our Dutch camping neighbors and took a good night sleep. Next day checked the weather again. And it was still going to be good the next day.. So we hiked up to the foot of the Badile. and bivouacked in a nice cave.. And around 1 a.m. The rain started pouring down. even dripping in to the cave! So when the alarm went of at 4:00 AM we diceded to sleep in, again.
Bad decision, the other climbers past our cave around 5:30… so we where too late, last in the long line of climbers … So we decided to give them a head start and sleep till 8:30
Starting around 10:00AM , first 7 pitches we climbed fast in just under 2 hours. Before the Traffic jam started.. a lot of slow climbers..!
After 3 hours of waiting and making fun on a ledge we climbed 2 pitches to find those slow climbers again..
4 Polish guys diced it was faster to have 1 lead climber and 3 following… NOT! fast at all…
But we passed them by and climbed the chimney and the last pitches to the top where we arrived at 20:00PM.
A long story of abseiling in the dark. stuck ropes, ghost rappel stations, gras ledges, unfindable mulichrings, popping pegs and crazy bivouac. We arived at 5 AM back at the bivouac cave for some warm food and good night rest.
